Valentine’s Cinema: The African Queen

Saturday, February 14, 2015 - 9:00am

Looking for a Valentine’s Day adventure? Join Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College for a special night of movie magic with Valentine’s Day Cinema: The African Queen on February 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Harbison Theatre will host a night of champagne and sweets in the lobby at 7:00 p.m.; river rapids and high romance on the big screen at 8:00 p.m. for its third annual Valentine’s Day Cinema, featuring a screening of classic film The African Queen, starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.

Recently featured in the Columbia Visitors Bureau’s ‘Famously Hot Valentine’s Day 2015’ picks, this evening of sweets and cinematic glory stands out from the long list of traditional Valentine’s Day outings offered in the Midlands.

“The event itself is quite charming,” says Katie Fox, Executive Director at Harbison Theatre. “I think one of the best aspects of being in love is experiencing surprises and new things together.”

A romantic journey back in time, The African Queen brings together one of Hollywood’s all-time greatest couples of the silver screen, Bogey and Kate, for World War 1 action, classic scores and plenty of chemistry.

Fox says The African Queen was an audience choice for the third occurrence of the popular Valentine’s Day Cinema event. “We took the audience’s suggestions for this year’s film, and The African Queen topped the list!”
