The privacy policy that follows describes, in detail, the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College’s data collection methodology, the use(s) of the data collected, as well as the general ethical and legal frameworks dictating the practices described herein.

Personally identifiable information (PII)

Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College may collect personally identifiable information (PII) from users in a variety of ways. These include, but are not limited to: site visits, online registrations through the site, newsletter subscriptions, survey responses, form submissions, or otherwise through additional activities, service, features, or resources made available through the theatre’s site. Users and site visitors may be asked for, where appropriate, their name, email address, physical mailing address, telephone number, and more.

The theatre may utilize the email address(es) that users furnish in order to respond to inquiries, questions, and/or other requests from site visitors. If a site visitor or user decides to opt-in to a mailing list, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates related to product or service information, etc. If at any time a user or site visitor that has chosen to opt in to this mailing list wishes to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, they should simply explore the unsubscribe instructions detailed at the bottom of every theatre-related email.

Information protection

Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College adopts appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction or personally identifiable information (PII), as well as usernames and passwords, transaction information, and any additional sensitive data stored on or delivered through the site.

Sharing of personal information

Under no circumstances will Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College sell, trade, or rent personally identifiable information (PII) to outside parties. The theatre does reserve the right, however, to share aggregated demographic information not linked to any personally identifiable information regarding site visitors and users with business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

The theatre reserves the right to share this information with its third-party service providers that help with routine operations and/or that administer activities on the theatre’s behalf, such as distributing newsletters, surveys, and other digital and print communications materials. The theatre may also share information with third parties for limited purposes where and when the user has explicitly agreed to have this data shared.

While there are laws in the state of South Carolina that permit citizens to access select records and other documents and pieces of information possessed by a government agency, there are certain legal restrictions that impede unfettered access to these materials, and to private or personal materials that are not a matter of public record or interest. Information collected from users of the theatre website, similarly to information collected during in-person visits to a government office, may be subject to inspection and copying by the public, unless an exemption in State or Federal law restricts interested parties from doing so.

In the event that there is a conflict between this privacy policy and a State or Federal law governing the disclosure of public records, the applicable law shall control. The Family Privacy Protection Act of 2002 prohibits persons or private entities from using personal information obtained from State agencies for commercial solicitation purposes. A person or persons that knowingly violate this prohibition is/are guilty of a misdemeanor, and is/are subject to the penalties specified in SC Code Ann. Section 30-2-50(D).

Third-party websites

Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College is not privy to, nor is it responsible for, the data collection practices and privacy policies of the third-party partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other organizations and institutions with which the theatre does business. When a user leaves the theatre site to browse on or interact with one of these third-party sites, that user is subject to the data collection and privacy policies of the third-party site in question; it behooves the user to familiarize him or herself with the respective policies of each third-party site that he or she visits.

The sites, services, content, and links from third-party affiliates with which the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College does business may change frequently and without sufficient notice. In this instance, it also behooves the user to familiarize him or herself with the policies unique to any site with which they may not have visited before.
