Presented by The Jasper Project, the 2nd Act Film Project is a distinctive approach to independent filmmaking that encourages creativity, collaboration, and storytelling across South Carolina.
Filmmakers receive the first and third acts of the same script and are challenged to write the missing second act and create a completed film no longer than six minutes. The result is a collection of original short films that all begin and end the same way—but take remarkably different journeys in between.
Founded in 2013, the project was created to foster collaboration within South Carolina's independent film community while providing filmmakers with an opportunity to showcase their talents through a shared creative challenge. From beginners to seasoned professionals, participants represent a diverse range of voices, experiences, and creative perspectives. Each selected team receives a production stipend to help offset filming costs.
To date, 100 films have been created through the project, making it one of South Carolina's most unique collaborative filmmaking initiatives.
Join us at Harbison Theatre as this year's selected teams premiere their completed films before a live audience and experience firsthand how one shared beginning and ending can inspire countless creative possibilities.
