Harbison Theatre hosted the 2023 MTC Showoff on Saturday, March 25. Nine finalists competed for the title of “Biggest Showoff.”
Ty Golson, a Corporate and Continuing Education student pursuing a web software developer and engineer certificate, won the competition. During the Showoff, he sang the song “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley which was met with a standing ovation from the audience. Golson won the title as the Biggest Showoff and the $1000 grand prize.
Melanie Jenkins, an MTC Ambassador and student studying electrical engineering, was a returning performer in this year’s Showoff. She delighted the audience with a rendition of “Creep” by Radiohead which was also met with a standing ovation. Jenkins won Audience Favorite as well as a $500 prize.
Harbison Theatre would like to thank again our panel of guest judges – Mandy Applegate, Preach Jacobs, and George Fulton. Other kudos are in line for ABC’s Tyler Ryan for serving as the emcee and to Jerry Stevenson with the Columbia Children’s Theatre for producing the event.
Students, alumni, faculty, and staff that are interested in auditioning for the 2024 MTC Showoff should keep an eye out for communications in late 2023.
