On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Midlands Technical College (MTC) hosted its annual talent competition, the MTC Showoff at Harbison Theatre. The 10 finalists competed for the title of “The Biggest Showoff” and a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize in front of a panel of judges. In addition, live audience voting allowed fans watching in-person and online to cast their vote for their favorite act and a chance to win a $500 prize.
Each of the finalists worked their way through auditions to earn their spot to compete on the Harbison Theatre stage. They also worked alongside local producer, Jerry Stevenson, to refine their act for the big night. The night was full of Maverick pride and exceptional talent.
2026 MTC Showoff Winners
Calvin Guyette took the title of “The Biggest Showoff” this year along with the $1,000 grand prize with his fire-eating performance. Ylezelle and Yzabelle, fondly known as the Alvarado sisters, won the crowd over rendition of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" and claimed the Audience Favorite prize of $500.
MTC thanks all our performers, staff members, volunteers and the wider Maverick community for making this year's event another success. We also thank award-winning television and radio personality, Tyler Ryan, for emceeing the event, backstage host and Creative Director, Lee Price, and esteemed judges Darion McCloud, Marty Fort, and Amy Brower for bringing their insightful commentary and expertise this year.
